It had just started to rain when I decided to get my camera out. It’s funny how something as simple as rain can make a photography outing seem like an adventure – even if it’s just venturing out into the backyard. There’s just a feeling that I get whenever it starts to rain. I’m not sure if it’s the cool air, the smell, or the dark sky, but I always feel like being out in the rain is exciting.
On this particular day, I decided to test out my Dad’s old 50mm macro lens. It’s an old Sigma, and as soon as I started shooting I felt like it was capturing the essence of the weather. The intense green colours, the details of the water droplets, the way the low aperture gave a dream-like quality to some of the images… it was exactly what I wanted.
